Music Moves Europe Dialogue at WOMEX 2025: building the future of music through education and leadership
A new session of the Music Moves Europe Dialogues lands at WOMEX on October 23 in Tampere (Finland), focusing on “Future-proofing the music ecosystem” and music education.
Music Moves Europe Dialogues, a series of meetings launched by the European Commission to promote creativity and innovation, safeguard musical diversity across Europe and help the sector adapt to digital change, bring together artists, professionals and industry leaders to exchange ideas and discuss key themes such as innovation, talent development and education.
This new session explores how to prepare the next generation of music professionals in a rapidly evolving industry, while highlighting the value of both formal and informal learning, mentorship and community-driven education to build a resilient and sustainable European music ecosystem.
Moderated by Magda Cholyst (Poland, Artist in Bloom) and introduced by Olivier Fontaine (European Commission), the public panel features experts from across Europe: Juha Järvinen (Finland, Turku Conservatory of Music), Jess Partridge (UK, European Music Managers Alliance), Kimmo Pohjonen (Finland, musician) and Christine Semba (France/Germany, Piranha Arts). They will discuss how different learning models, from conservatory training to grassroots initiatives, can coexist and support leadership, lifelong learning and inclusivity in the sector.
