Maurizio Corbella is Associate Professor of Musicology at the University of Milan. His research explores sound and music in screen media, with a focus on film soundtracks, biopics, and mediatised performance. He currently leads FILMUSP (Music Publishing and Film: Toward a Production History of the Soundtrack in Italian Cinema, 1958–76), a research project funded by the Italian Ministry of Research and NextGeneration EU. He co-chairs the Sound and Music in Media workgroup of NECS (European Network for Cinema and Media Studies) and serves on the editorial boards of the open-access journal Sound Stage Screen and the book series Musica.Performance.Media (NeoClassica). In 2025 he contributed chapters to the edited volumes Anonymous Sounds (Bloomsbury), Scoring Italian Cinema (Routledge), and The Intellect Handbook of Popular Music Methodologies (Intellect).
