Born in Bologna in 1977, Francesco Brini began teaching himself the drums at age 12; a few years later, he started studying Latin American, African, and Indian percussion.
He has performed live and in the studio with numerous artists—including Robert Smith (UK), Pete Doherty (UK), Jeff Jones (USA), Lo Stato Sociale, and the British band Swayzak—touring the globe and playing at prestigious festivals such as Coachella and Glastonbury.
Alongside his work as a musician, he is active as a producer (notably for Lo Stato Sociale) and composes soundtracks for film, theater, and documentaries.
For about a decade, he has successfully focused on mastering; artists of the caliber of Cassius, Pharrell Williams, and Francesca Michielin have passed through his hands, as has nearly the entire catalog of the Garrincha Dischi label—including acts like Lo Stato Sociale, Ex-Otago, Cimini, Punkreas, and The Bluebeaters.
Since 2006, he has been active in the record industry, initially founding small independent electronic labels before joining Garrincha Dischi. There, he manages publishing—specifically synchronization—and serves as the artistic director of the newly launched GOGO label. Since 2023, he has held the role of Head of Operations (Italy and Europe) for MGM, the Australian multinational physical and digital distributor.
