Tove Agelii is a producer, vocalist and visual artist from Gothenburg, Sweden, releasing music as Toxe. With a background in architecture and design, her practice spans music, sound design and visual art. She began releasing music in 2015 with her debut EP Muscle Memory, followed by Morning Story (2017) and Blinks (2018) on Berlin label PAN. In 2024, she released Toxe2, her first Swedish-language electronic pop project, expanding her practice into vocals and songwriting.
Alongside her own releases, Toxe’s work spans film, fashion, sound and performance. She has created sound installations, including a collaboration with Mechatok at Haus der Kunst in Munich, and scored Lukas Moodysson’s HBO series Gösta and the short film The Story Of Leonora, later released on PAN. She has also created music for fashion houses including Dior, Burberry, Kenzo, Acne and Celine. From 2019–2020, she hosted the NTS show FF Radio and has performed internationally as a DJ and artist. Her music has appeared in DJ sets from artists including Aphex Twin and Björk. Her remixes include Smerz’ Street Style (Toxe EDIT) and Bladee & Mechatok’s Sun which was later followed by a collaboration with the pair on a cover of Sofijah’s Försöker (2025).
Her forthcoming album Bubble Treasure is her first album sung in English. Recorded between Paris and New York, it builds on the pop world of Toxe2, combining piano, strings, xylophone, timpani and wind chimes with her electronic roots. The ten tracks have a shimmering, fleeting quality, as if bubbling up from Toxe’s mind as fully formed pop experiments only to disappear abruptly. Across the album, she steps into different characters, expressing tender and surreal scenes: A Girl Who Needs a Brain is written from the perspective of a zombie clinging to her last romantic thoughts, while In Awe follows a comet approaching Earth. In Cranberry Glass, she becomes a perfectionist, blushing glass object. The album explores tenderness, desire, vulnerability, sensuality and isolation, finding beauty in the fleeting and impermanent.
