Silvia Tarassi got in 2012 a PhD with a research project about the Milan music scene and its relation to the city. Thanks to this experience, she worked for 7 years as advisor to the Deputy Mayor for Culture of Milan. She has been involved in several projects concerning cultural and music policies and regulations, live music, music cities. Today she is Board member of Italia Music Lab, member of the Music Commission for the Italian Ministry of Culture, Expert for Creative Europe, and member of World Cities Culture Forum Advisory Board. She is also lecturer at the University of Bergamo and Catholic University of Milan.
She has published several articles, among others on Cultural Sociology, Sage “Multi-Tasking and Making a Living from Music: Investigating Music Careers in the Independent Music Scene of Milan” and she is writing the book "Festival diffusi. Un nuovo formato organizzativo per le politiche culturali".
