10 co-composers and/or authors, from at least 6 countries, and different collecting societies, each individually published, have transformed a catalogue title into e new song by dissecting and sampling the master and the composition, added completely new toplines - arranged with AI plugins, using sounds from libraries. And it became a hit. Who can claim ownership of what? Who should be rewarded most? Copyright, neighbouring rights, royalty splits… And don’t imagine what happens if the writers and copyright holders do not agree on splits? Let’s face it: it’s a mess. So what are propositive ways out of it?
