Gaia Banfi
Gaia Banfi is an Italian singer, songwriter, musician, and producer.
Her artistic work in rooted in pop/electronic/alternative sounds experimentation and blending. Gaia's music pushes Italian songwriting to the extreme boundaries and canons of typical song forms. Ethereal voices and timbres blend in a mix of contrasts, electronic influences, and distorted sounds, often challenging the limits of singability, and turning the voice into an integral element of musical production.
She began singing at the age of 6; after several years of dedicated study, which included classical guitar and violin lessons, she graduated with honours in Jazz Vocals from the Conservatorio di Bologna, under the guidance of Diana Torto.
Parallel to her education at the Conservatorio, Gaia delved deeper into composition and music production. In 2020, she released her debut album, "lotus." Since 2022, she has collaborated with AKA5HA, an Italian producer and artist, exploring her passion for production and the pursuit of more experimental and refined sounds in electro-pop music.
At the same time, she began producing her own instrumental electronic project. On February 24, 2023, "Non si può stare morti per sempre" was presented during the opening of the exhibition by Ilaria Demo De Lorenzi, artist, designer, and artistic director.
In 2023, Gaia participated in X Factor, bringing a "parallel musical world, and leaving the competition with the respect of those who love music" [from Rolling Stones Italia, see article]. Between September and October 2023, she presented her new and unreleased work at the "Reset" Festival in Turin, Efesto House in Bologna, during the opening act for Ceneri, and at Colonne 28 in Parma.
